Pricing Scheme Change

A smallish change to MakeSomeTime today. We’ve decided to change the pricing scheme slightly to help us continue to run the site as best we can. Instead of charging a flat rate of $1 to send invoices we will now charge 1% of the invoice total (in USD) to send an invoice. Note that you can still create as many invoices as you want and re-sending invoices will cost you nothing.

So for example:

  • Sending an invoice with a total of $100 will cost you $1.
  • Sending an invoice with a total of $250 will cost you $3.
  • Sending an invoice with a total of $500 will cost you $5.
  • And so on…

As always we love to hear what you think about the changes we make to MakeSomeTime. So let us know.

So, if I’m sending out an invoice for 3k, I have to pay $30?

Your pricing method is flawed. I can sign up to freshbooks for about $15 a month and send a whole bunch of invoices at whatever prices I wish.

  2. @Anon Yes that is true. However with MakeSomeTime you don’t have a monthly financial commitment. You only pay for what you send. So it comes down to opinion.

So you’re saying you only want people that invoice infrequently and for small amounts? Seems like you need some sort of cap to be competitive — e.g., 1% of invoice or some dollar value, whichever is less. Otherwise nobody with large accounts would ever use the product.

JJ is right. Great for small time usage, but for people billing out 2 to 4 sites a month at $2k each that is a minimum of $40 a month. I think JJ is right in saying there needs to be a cap. Charge with your scheme, but once I have been charged $15 to $20 for the month that is it. Like an insurance deductible.

To be honest I was just about to try MakeSomeTime when I discovered your pricing method and it put me off right away!

As Anon says, you can get a monthly paid account at freshbooks (or any other invoicing app) and know how much you pay no matter what your turnover is.

In my case, with the amounts I invoice I would definitely lose money if I decided to use your system.

Man…. I was looking at using this program but the price is out of this world….

  7. This really doesn’t make much sense, from a user perspective. If I’m sending out a $50 invoice, I should use makesometime, because it will only cost me $0.50… but if I’m sending out a $2,000 invoice.. I might as well make up my own invoice, and save myself $20. I see this being less profitable for you guys in the long run.

  8. [...] much deliberation and listening to your comments about the old pricing scheme for MakeSomeTime I have decided to make MakeSomeTime completely [...]
